Bandon

RV Parks:
Bullards Beach State Park
A favorite park. Not too many sites for Big Rigs (sites near A16 are long and good for satellite/datastorm reception). Sites are cozy, have 30 amp, water and sewer. Good cell service. Pretty far from the beach, but it is really close to Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes Golf Course.

Brookings

RV Parks:
Whaleshead Beach Resort
GPS: 42.1466N/124.3517W
Whaleshead Beach Resort is just north of Brookings. It is mostly a park for live-ins and park models. Sites may be purchased. It is not on the beach, but on the other side of Highway 101. You can walk to the beach via a very scary 700-foot-long dark tunnel (bring a flashlight). However, once you make the trek, the beach is very pretty with huge rocks just off-shore. There are nicer campgrounds in town. They have a restaurant, a small shop, full-hook-up sites, cable TV, restrooms and laundry.

Beachfront RV Park
GPS: 42.04439N/124.2678W
This RV park is nothing more than a gravel parking lot with full (30 amp) hookups, but it is right on the beach next to the jetty, and minutes from town. Operated by the port. Pull-through and back-in sites available, bath house, laundry, picnic table, good water pressure and great cell service. If it is foggy, the fog horn will be your constant companion... all night long. The RV park is right on the beach, so you will hear waves crashing too (this is either a good or a bad thing, depending upon your preferences).

Cannon Beach

RV Parks:
RV Resort at Cannon Beach
Very nice park. You can walk to town, or ride your bike. Full hook-up paved sites, cell service, pet friendly, indoor pool and hot tub, newspaper box and small store.  Sites 1-4 are best if you want to get your satellite TV, but they have cable. Cannon Beach has many restaurants, shops and galleries. The most famous feature is Haystack Rock, which sits just off shore and is accessible for tide-pool exploring during a very low tide. Puffin's nest on Haystack Rock.

Seven Feathers expanded! They have built a first-class 191-site RV Resort across the freeway from their popular casino. The campground is at Exit 99 on I-5, but is away from the freeway noise. Facilities include: an indoor pool, spa, fitness center, tiled laundry, private shower rooms, BBQ/group area, meeting room with full kitchen, paved and lighted walking paths along Jordan Creek, horseshoe pits, great grassy dog walk areas, a playground and - of course - a shuttle that will take you over to the casino every 20 minutes.  Escorts help guide you into your concrete site. Each site has 20/30/50 amp, water and sewer, cable television, free wifi, a little lawn, plantings and a round picnic table. Everything is very tasteful. Seven Feathers RV Resort would be a great rally park! The concierge service can arrange golf packages at Myrtle Creek Golf Club, winery tours and help with other area tourism information. Seven Feathers offers discounts to military, AAA, Good Sam, FMCA, Escapees - plus an additional 10% off if you have a Club Card from their casino! See more photos of the Seven Feathers RV Resort

In the area:
The Seven Feathers Casino is operated by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians. (Pronounced: UMMp-kwah - but the "p" is nearly silent.) The main casino is smoke-filled with a popular buffet and several other restaurants, hotel and convention center. No alcohol is served in the casino, but it is available in the restaurants. The casino has a very nice shop with local Native American craft and food gifts. Also on the property is the Seven Feathers Truck & Travel Center - a full service truck stop gone fancy - everything you could need for your rig and a nice coffee shop. There are several restaurants in the very small town of Canyonville and a small grocery.

Columbia Gorge

In the area:
Multnomah Falls
If you are driving east/west of Portland on I-84, there is a fabulous stop at Multnomah Falls. The parking area is in the median of the freeway, so drive/park carefully. There is space for 5 or 6 RVs. (If you are a Big Rig or towing a trailer/5th-wheel DO NOT drive the scenic by-way in this area.) You can spend several hours here (hike to the top of the falls) or just spend ten minutes to snap a photo of the gorgeous waterfall. Restaurant, snacks, toilets, gift shop. This waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the country, the second-highest in the country (Yosemite Falls is the highest). Best in the spring or winter, but always beautiful... but, as an Oregonian, my opinion is tainted.

Coos Bay (also see Charleston)

RV Parks:
Mill Casino RV Park - Coos Bay, Oregon  Mill Casino RV Park - Coos Bay, Oregon

The Mill Casino RV Park
The Coquille Tribe has added a huge RV park at their casino on Highway 101 (trust me, you can't miss it). Bay front sites. Paved pull-through sites up to 63 feet long, internet, pet walking area, full hookups, showers, laundry. Shuttle circles the RV park to take you up to the casino (which no longer has bingo, by the way) and they also offer a free shuttle to Bandon Dunes Golf Course for registered guests. The tribe also allows RVs to park free in their parking lot overnight and don't mind if you "camp" free, but ask that you do register in the RV park office  - the RV park office then has security drive by and check things for you as a courtesy. Pronounced: CO-keel.

RV Parks:

Mazama Village Campground
GPS: 42° 52.106'N, 122° 10.002W
Altitude:
6078' (not a typo!)
Your only option in the park if you are camping in a RV in Crater Lake National Park. Mazama is a beautiful campground at the south entrance to the park. No hook-ups (though there are now a choice few electric sites). Some sites can hold up to a 50' RV (okay, that is what it says on the website, but I have never seen/heard of a 50' RV. We camped here in a 40' motorhome  - with slide rooms - and stayed in #A3 with no difficulties.) Sites are (dusty) dirt with nice fire pits and picnic tables. Treed sites, but with enough openings it is probably possible to find your TV satellite. Flush toilets and pay showers, ranger programs/hikes and a very nice amphitheater, firewood, store, restaurant and fuel (seasonal). This campground is operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts and it is easy to book a site through their website. Read our postcards from Crater Lake - with many nice photos.

Note: if this campground is full, try Diamond Lake Resort RV Park, not far from the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park.

Eugene (area)

RV Parks:
Premier RV Resort
GPS: 44.13213N/123.0486W
The park is now under new ownership and has made huge improvements.  It is still right off I-5, which makes it very convenient (exit 199) and a little noisy, which is the only reason I don't give it a higher rating.  Sites are full-hook-up long paved pull-throughs, 50 & 30 amp, cable, paper delivered to your door, pet area, pool, good cell service and the staff are really friendly. They offer free wi-fi. RVers will be happy to know it is just across the freeway from Cummins and the Monaco factory and just a few miles from the Country Coach and Marathon factories. Ducks will be happy to know it is less than 15 minutes to Autzen Stadium. There is a small grocer in Coburg.

Florence

RV Parks:
Heceta Beach RV Park
GPS: 44.03191N/124.1284W
A few miles north of Florence. Small old-fashioned campground with full-service RV sites operated by a Father-Daughter team. Walk 3 blocks to the beach. Store, laundry, rec room. No cell service. Sites are satellite-friendly. (Pronounced this year: HAH-see-ta; rhymes with casita. This pronunciation is a never-ending Oregon controversy. When I was a girl, it was always HECK-ah-ta.)

Carl Washburne Memorial State Park  15 miles north of Florence. This campground is very pretty and shady. Campsites are in the trees, not satellite friendly and no cell service. Across highway from beach, but there is a trail tunneling under the highway. 56 full hook up sites, maximum site 45 feet. dump station, beach parking, bathrooms at beach.

Alder Dune Campground
US Forest Service Campground. 39 sites, limited sites for larger RVs, no hook-ups, shady sites with fire pits, picnic tables, Rhododendrons, lake fishing, camp host on site, limited cell service. Five miles north of Florence.

Harbor Vista
Lane County Parks. 3 miles north of Florence. 38 RV sites with water and electric. A very nice park with large, shady, paved sites with views of jetty, harbor and sea. Fire rings, BBQ grills, bath house, playground, viewing platform, some sites can handle big rigs, some sites are satellite friendly, rhododendrons, dump station. Firewood available.

Port of Siuslaw RV Park & Marina
In town - one block walk to Old Town. Good cell service, picnic tables, 85 sites (59 full hookup, 26 water/electric only, all on grass. (Pronounced: SIGH-oos-law)

Jessie Honeyman State Park
A few miles south of Florence, this large Oregon State Park is very popular. The campground has a lot of over-grown trees and shrubbery and is difficult for big rigs to maneuver. Popular with ATVers, but ATVs are not allowed in the park, but must be trailered several miles south to dune access. It is over two miles to the beach from this park. Honeyman is the second largest campground in the Oregon State Park system and one of the most popular parks - a great, old-fashioned campground. 47 full hookup sites, 121 electric/water and 187 tent sites, 10 yurts for rent. Fire rings, firewood for sale, flush toilets and hot showers, dump station, on-site camp hosts and great rhododendrons in the spring. Lakes nearby.

Gold Beach

RV Parks:
Four Seasons RV Resort
GPS: 42.47452N/124.3383W
This river-front RV park is about 5 miles up the Rogue River from Gold Beach. It is an old-fashioned style campground, but the views can't be beat. Reserve a river-front site - they overlook the Rogue River. Before we had settled-in the staff at Four Seasons had us reserved on a jet boat trip and dinner at next-door Tu Tu Tun Lodge for dinner. Very helpful staff. 30/50 amp, sites on gravel/lawn, good water pressure, very pet friendly (say hi to Hank), bathhouse, very quiet, cable TV. No cell service. See a photo

Kimball Creek RV Resort
Kimball Creek is a few miles up the river from Four Seasons RV Park. The parks are similar, Kimball Creek is larger. Operated by a very nice family, they will also make dinner and jet boat arrangements for you and also offer river-front campsites. No cell service.

Ireland's Ocean RV Park
This campground is really only a basic campground, but has an ideal setting, so we give it an extra star. Situated behind a motel, the campsites are on a little bluff over the ocean. Free wifi and hookups, but there are only a few pull-throughs and only a few sites have 50 amp. Ireland's has a great view of the sea from their cool "lighthouse" lookout.

Turtle Rock RV Resort
GPS: N42°23.299'/W124°25.164'  Altitude: 50 feet
This campground is located on the south side of Gold Beach along the mouth of Hunter Creek. There is a path which crosses under Highway 101 for beach access and the beach is very nice here - you can walk for miles. Though fairly close to the highway, this park is still quiet. Gravel sites, 30 amp service. Good water pressure, good cell service, wifi and cable TV. There are a few park models in this campground.

GPS: 42.46132N/123.3172W
Jack's Landing is right on the freeway, but you get to drive around several blocks to finally reach the campground - but the route is well-marked and the turns are easy in a RV. This campground is super clean and the owner is very friendly. The campsites are well-situated with easy access. Paved sites, pool, putting green, horse shoes, shuffleboard, Gazebo BBQ area. Cable TV, exercise room.  Very nice RV park, but a lot of freeway noise.

Riverpark RV Resort
Very pretty campground on the Rogue River. It took us a bit of trouble to find the campground, but when we did, we were happy. Under beautiful trees (sorry, if you want your satellite TV - but they have cable). Full hook-ups, friendly staff.

There is nothing remarkable about this campground. It is a membership park, but also allows non-members to camp. Full hook-up sites in a field on Highway 97 (across from a train track). Maintenance and weeding do not seem to be a high priority to the management. Swimming pool in season, popular restaurant, ice, newspaper, some recycling. We've camped here many times. Sites are back-in with electric (30 amp and 15 amp) and water. No sewer at sites, but they  have two dump stations. Ranger programs. The campground is just over a dune to a beach that runs for miles. Be aware that the sea is quite dangerous here! You can arrange to rent a boat to go crabbing in the bay, go on a horseback ride on the beach and there are grocery stores and restaurants in town.  A few miles south is the infamous Tillamook Creamery. home of Tillamook cheese. Sites may be booked 9 months in advance and may be booked on-line. If your rig is over 40' feet in length, you are going to just-fit in some sites. Pronounced: Nah-HAY-lum (rhymes with Salem)

RV Parks:
Pear Tree RV Park
GPS: 42.27836N/122.8099W. Elevation 1500'
Now at a Super 8 Motel, this campground is right off I-5, so it is noisy, but a great place for overnight - especially if you want to wait until the next morning to cross south over the Siskiyou Pass (or a good place to stop after crossing). They have many large pull-through sites and a pool.

In the area:
Harry & David (I-5 exit 27) (42.18755N/122.51439W)
Famous for their pears - there are hundreds of pear orchards in the area - you can find fruits of all sorts, fresh vegetables, nuts, frozen cheese cakes, sweets, cheeses, meats, teas, wine and great gifts. Harry & David also sell Jackson & Perkins roses and many other plants. Tours of the Harry & David packing facility leave from the store parking area four times daily. For reservations and more information visit their website or phone 877-322-8000.

Harry & David have a large parking lot, but long rigs (and those towing) might do better to park across the street in the (usually not too full) Fred Meyer parking lot and walk across the street. Fred Meyer is a one-stop shopping mecca - you can pick up a gallon of milk, a hammer and a new pair of shorts under one roof. Great prices. There is also a Starbucks at Freddies.

Next to the Harry & David store is a very good shop selling Birkenstocks and a nice deli - if you are still hungry after "shopping".  Don't forget: no sales tax in Oregon!

RV Parks:
"On the River" Golf & RV Park
Elevation 538'. This park is, indeed, on the river - the South Umpqua River. It sits on a pretty little bend and there is a nice swimming hole too. The park is quiet, yet less than 2 miles off Interstate 5 (exit 113). Friendly owners. Pull-through and back-in gravel full-hook-up sites (30 and 50 amp). Pay showers, no cable TV (a few grainy antenna stations), fishing pond (barbless, catch & release), playground, lots of trees and lawn, well-maintained old-fashioned campground. Good water pressure. Wi-Fi. But forget about the "golf" advertised. It is like a putt-putt Par 3 - and only six holes! Stay 6 days and get the 7th day free. AAA, Good Sam, Escapee discounts, plus others.

They are a membership park (Coast to Coast, RPI, and many others - check their website for details), but have offers for non-members. Full hook-up sites on gravel, picnic table, 50 amp. Swimming pool, spa. This park is not on the beach and has no beach access. There are about a zillion rabbits and bunnies running around, so be aware of this if you travel with a beagle! Read our postcard (with lots of bunny photos)

Newport

RV Park:
Newport Marina and RV Park  Newport Bay - Oregon Coast

Newport Marina RV Park
This is a convenient place to stay if you are going to spend a few day in Newport or are going fishing. There are sites right at the marina, or at the "annex" next door to a motel. Opt for the newly refurbished main area. The Hatfield Marine Science Center and the Oregon Coast Aquarium are within walking distance of this RV park, as is the Rogue Brewery. You can also get a fishing charter from the marina or rent a crab pot or two. Fish cleaning stations and crab cooking stations. Full hook-ups, good cell service, free wi-fi. The park is operated by the Port of Newport.

Pacific Shores RV Resort
One of the nicest RV parks in the country. So fancy, they have room service. Prepare to spend the big bucks - but you will receive fabulous service and a perfect campsite. If you love the Oregon Coast - this is your park. Motorcoaches only, with RV size and age restrictions. Non-aggressive dogs only. No beach access - because the park sits on a cliff over the ocean - but otherwise, sweet.

Another great Oregon State Park. Old-fashioned campground with back-in sites in trees. (It can be tricky to get your satellite through the trees in some sites, and not all sites are long enough for a big rig.) Family and pet-friendly. Play grounds, great bike path to the Aquarium and brew pub. Quite a hike to the beach - 1/3 to 1/2 mile - but what a great beach! Nature trails, recycling center, ranger talks, campground hosts, firewood for sale, plus a small store selling ice, etc. 228 electrical sites. Many have water. Since there is no grass, and just a narrow strip of pavement, it tends to get a little sandy & dirty here. Dump station. Tent area, hiker/biker camp and 27 yurts to rent.
