Ajo
RV Parks:
Shadow Ridge
Ajo is a great place to stay the night before
crossing the border into Mexico. This is a basic
campground, terraced into a hillside. Decent water
pressure, big pull-throughs, pet-friendly, quiet and
safe. My Mom says Ajo now has a big, new
supermarket too.

Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort

Casa Grande, AZ 85222
1-800-421-7004
Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort is a 55+ park. If they
are not full, and you are not quite 55 and are
traveling without the kids, they may let you stay
for a few days. Huge park, with many park models and
tons of seasonal guests. Many activities and a very
nice Par-3 course that is incredibly green year-round. If you have a
pet, you can only stay in a certain area of the
park.

RV Parks:
Cotton Lane RV Park
Overnighted here. 15 miles east of Phoenix.
Good water pressure, fabulous pool and steamy indoor
hot tub. 55+ park, lots of park models. 4-hole golf
course - but it's free!
Grand Canyon National
Park
RV Parks:
Mather Trailer Village
GPS: N36°03.255'/W112°06.817'
Elevation: 7040'
This campground is inside Grand Canyon National
Park. Long full-service paved/gravel sites with 30
or 50 amp electrical and cable TV. Great water
pressure, BBQ grill, picnic tables and recycling.
Quite a trek to the bath house though. Spotty cell
service throughout the park. Don't leave your sewer connection attached outside
or the birds will peck holes in the hose (so said the ranger). Reservations always
recommended.

Holbrook
RV Parks:
Holbrook/Petrified Forest KOA
Pretty noisy, since it is right on the freeway, but
the only show in town. They have 30 amp
full-hook-sites, gravel pull-throughs, cell service,
dog friendly, pool and a big pancake breakfast.
Sites are pretty tight together.

Many park models. Try to request a front-in site on
the lake. Pool, hot tub, lake, marina and boat
launch.

(Exit 233 off I-40 between Flagstaff and Winslow,
Arizona)
1.800-289.585898/928.289.2362
Not exactly a destination resort, Meteor Crater RV
Park is a convenient stop-over on I-40 after
visiting Walnut Canyon, Meteor Crater or standing on
the corner of Winslow, Arizona. Basic full hook-up
pull-throughs, big rig friendly, 30 & 50 amp, free
wifi (but it was really, really slow), security
gate, two dog runs, laundry and bathhouse. No cable
and only a few stations found on the antenna. No
pool or hot tub. Store, gas station. No recycling.
There is a discount if you visit Meteor Crater (or
vice versa). Some long-term live-ins.
Page/Lake Powell
RV Parks:
Page-Lake Powell Campground
Too many long-time live-ins and fairly run-down.
They have 50 amp gravel pull throughs, picnic tables
and really good water pressure. Newspaper box, pool,
hot tub, great location. (I noted my my
Camping Journal to stay at the National Parks
Service campground at the marina next time.)

I gave this place four stars, but just because they have everything. It is a 55+

who want to only spend a few days (not the winter) at their campsite.

RV Parks:
Picacho Peak RV Resort
This park is very nice - but it is near nothing. Between Casa Grande and Tucson, you need to drive
over 20 miles to even a supermarket. They have a
great pool and hot tub and it is right on the
interstate.
Picacho Peak State Park is nearby and they also
have a campground.

Very convenient park while touring in Sedona. It is
an old park, but very nice and the staff is very
friendly. Ask for an executive site for the
best features, and reserve well-ahead. Full
hook-ups, cable, free wifi, good cell and radio
reception, quiet, picnic tables, laundry. On Oak
Creek.

Apache Palms is really small and a bit difficult to
maneuver, but it is just a mile or so from Sun Devil
stadium and ASU campus.) This park is meticulously
maintained by the friendly owner. Great water
pressure, gravel sites with patios and picnic
tables, good cell service, free wifi, recycling,
pool and okay hot tub. There is a small extra charge
if you want 50 amp. It is a little noisy as it is on
a busy street. Beginning December 2008, the
light-rail line will run just steps away from the RV
Park.

RV Parks:

The Tombstone RV Park
Dumpy, but friendly and very convenient for a visit to Tombstone. The campsites
are marked with numbered tombstones: "Here Lies 4". Very funny. The park just
has new owners and they were already making improvements. All the usual
hook-ups, bad cell service, pool in-season, quiet. Many live-ins.

Your one-stop RV park. Beaudry's has it all - though
it is just a fancy parking lot in reality. They have
a store, restaurant, pub and a Camping World on
site. If you don't like your RV, you can buy a
new one at the on-site sales lot! Great pool & hot
tub. Paved sites, with gravel instead of lawn, a
patio and table. Also RV repair service on-site and
a great crew to wash/wax your rig. Off-leash dog
park. Fruit trees - lemons, oranges and grapefruit,
help yourself. Most sites are pull-throughs, but
they offer back-in sites along perimeter. Very few
live-ins here.
Voyager RV Resort
This park is advertised as the "Best RV Park in
America". It was nice, but not the best. Every
amenity though, great water pressure and cell
service. Dogs are allowed, but there are so many
rules. I also noted in my Camping Journal that they
were not "kid friendly". Pool, hot tub and quiet -
but too far from Tucson and near nothing. Many park
models.
