Reese sniffs metal

Indio, California: We had a very nice day here in the Coachella Valley - sunny and no wind. Guess we missed a nasty wind storm here while we were in Los Angeles the past few days. We woke to this pretty view:

Hot air balloons - notice a second balloon behind the palm trees

We took Our Grand Dawg out to a very nice dirt/gravel trail in La Quinta where Reese and I could walk for miles while DT ran. I took Reese out for about two miles - but must watch his exercise as he has just had two difficult ACL surgeries on his rear drivers-side knee. Reese had a fun time walking, sniffing and exploring (he learned some "bushes" are actually cacti and have spines!).

Other than our morning work-out, and a trip to PetSmart to load-up on Greenies, we had a quiet day in the RV - taking Reese for several more - shorter - walks. Needlepointing occurred... along with text-messaging with the Bence's as they started their Road Trip towards the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

Tonight, Mark and Debbie invited us to their home for dinner. Mark grilled amazing salmon and served rice pilaf and a tossed salad with a raspberry tart for dessert. YUMMY. We had another enjoyable evening with our old friends and actually had TWO Asta (their cat) sightings. Asta does not like strangers... and I guess people don't come much stranger than DT and me.

Well, except our Grand Dawg. Reese sniffs metal. For hours a day. At our house in Oregon, he loves to sniff our paper shredder and the brass door hinges. At his house, he sniffs Lisa's oven door. At DT's Mom's house, Reese loves to sniff her brass fireplace screen. He also loves to rub his butt on the carpet and give himself a little static shock when his nose touches the metal. Is this normal? Has anyone ever heard of this? In our motorhome, Reese sniffs our reading lamp.

Reese is the strangest dog - E V E R - but we love him like mad. Who could resist this face?

Just love me

Until my next electrifying update, I remain, your static correspondent.
