Coupon Tuesday
Indio, California: DT was feeling a bit
better today and went for a jog around the RV park. (One of our fellow
campers is training for a marathon and runs around this campground -
honestly - for HOURS every day... I mean she keeps running and running and
running past our campsite... and I keep looking up every time she passes
by... really disturbing my needlepointing or blogging or potato chip
eating!)
Unlike our trip into the Palouse this fall where I forgot to bring along
any pants (except the pair I was wearing), this trip I only packed
three pair of long pants - jeans, and two pair of dressy slacks... thinking
we were going to be "capri-pant-weather" all winter. Ooops. This was not
working, so DT took me to the trendy shopping street known as El Paseo (PAH-say-oh)
in Palm Desert. I know the economy is suffering, but we were both surprised
at exactly how low prices in shops have dropped. I bought two pair of casual
pants at
Talbots for $24.99 each. Yes, they were on sale, and not only were they
on sale... anything marked in RED was an additional 50% off. Plus, I had a
$25 Talbots frequent flyer coupon! Nearly FREE!
But wait, it gets even better! Mark & Debbie gave us a gift certificate to
the Daily Grill as
a "bus-warming" gift - so we had a free lunch!

The Daily Grill on El Paseo
The Daily Grill is one of the nicest joints we have visited
in a while. A chain of twenty-four restaurants (several in the DC area), the
interior takes you back in time with carved wood pillars, black and white
tile floors and marble-topped tables. They are famous for their chicken pot
pies, meatloaf and Cobb Salad. Getting the idea? Our server, Linda, was
great and we really enjoyed a delicious, relaxing lunch.

We both had the daily specials. I had chicken parmesan Caesar salad

DT had the special steak quesadillas
To be honest, Mark & Debbie not only bought our lunch... we
are having dinner on them too (doggie bag). Thanks, guys!

El Paseo is such a fancy street, shoppers don't even have to walk -
golf cars will carry you up and down the street, from shop to shop! (We
walked.)

Ahhh... palm trees in the sunshine. It was 64 degrees today.
Until my next update, I remain, your frugal correspondent.
