Indio, California: Goodness, the weather
here is simply T E R R I B L E ! ! ! It has been raining since around 10p
last night. And I mean, Oregon-style buckets of rain. Inches of rain.
Flooding. More snow in the hills. It did not get above 43° all day.
At home, in Oregon, the weather is much worse - snow!
The weather was so dismal, our emergency weather radio actually came on with
a Flash Flood Warning - in Spanish and English. I didn't leave the motorhome
except to drive to the post office to ship orders. (I don't think my
customers care if we are having a dreary day.)
Tonight our friends, Debbie & Mark, picked us up and took us to dinner at
Soul of Mexico
- one of their new favorite restaurants in La Quinta. Soul of Mexico makes
everything from scratch and uses only the freshest ingredients and it really
pays off when your fork hits your mouth.

A real margarita - using only premium tequilas and Cointreau

I ordered enchiladas with potatoes

Debbie & Dave had burritos

Mark ordered chicken molé
The restaurant has a lively bar, plenty of big screen TVs
showing sports and great decor. The tables are topped with leather - actual
cow hides! - and the barrel chairs are also made of leather. (Owners of the
restaurant, the Lua family are proud of their nephew, Indio High School and
USC football player, Oscar Lua, who earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of
the New England Patriots.) Another great evening with great friends.
The weather people claim the rain will be gone by tomorrow. I hope so, my
needlepoint project is practically finished! Until my next update from
24 Hour Fitness our sunny RV park walking trail, I remain,
your El Grande correspondent.
