Jake's Pizza: Minnesota in California
Indio, California: We were
busy all day, but did not really accomplish much. Thus is
the life of a wandering RVer. Again, we enjoyed perfect
weather - not only was it in the mid-70's... the sky was
unbelievably clear, and NO WIND!
I was up early and over to the local pedicure/manicure
spa-place to have Henry beat the living crap out of my feet.
Henry gives a great pedicure, and then practices reflexology
on unsuspecting "soles" such as myself. Part heaven, part
torture; I never miss a chance to see Henry when I am in the
Palm Springs area.
While I was having my pedicure, DT went for a run. Later we
had a telephone consultation with the Country Coach tech and
can now actually get sound AND picture from our outside
television! Yeah! Every day we fix one problem. Only three
more things/days, and we are golden.
We ran errands in the afternoon and visited the new
BevMo...
kinda like the Costco of booze. Schwing!
Otherwise, I was quite busy as the holiday shipping season
is in full swing, requiring two trips to the local post
office today. Thank you, Camping Journal customers. There
will be many Happy Campers on Christmas morning!
For dinner, we went back to one of our favorite local haunts
-
Jake's Pizza. Jake has eight restaurants. Seven in
Minnesota and one in La Quinta, California. They serve
Minnesota-style pizza and their most famous pizza is a
hamburger pizza. Seriously. Many restaurants in town are
closing due to the economic "down turn", but it was
standing-room-only tonight a Jake's - in a little strip mall
just off Highway 111. (Jake's Pizza, 78995 Highway 111, La
Quinta, CA 92253, 760-777-7288.) Three servers tonight,
three cooks - and a delivery guy. When they first opened, it
was one person - chef, waiter, cashier! So happy this
wonderful pizzeria is doing well.

A blur of activity in the kitchen

Tonight's featured special - jalapeno roll-ups

Jalapeno rolls: pizza dough rolled up with jalapeno
peppers and mozzarella cheese. Spicy! Yummy!

Every year - whether we need it or not - we order the
hamburger pizza at Jake's La Quinta.
(Minnesota is just too far to drive for a pizza.)
