Bella Terra RV Resort in Gulf Shores, Alabama
Gulf Shores, Albama: During our six-day
stay in Gulf Shores, we have been staying at the new
Bella Terra RV
Resort. And, when I say "new", I mean four months old - and still under
construction.
Exclusively for Class A motor coaches, the 176 lots at Bella Terra are
wrapped around a nine-acre lake. Sites are landscaped with grass and palms,
and offer every amenity imaginable: stained concrete pads, cable TV, high
speed wifi, water, sewer and 200 sweet amps of power.
Lots at Bella Terra are for sale. Un-purchased lots may be rented, or owners
who are away can choose to rent their lots. Owners have the option to
upgrade their site with outdoor kitchens, entertainment centers, gazebos and
"carriage houses".
During this initial phase, the resort is offering a two-for-one deal to
renters. We paid for three nights ($70 each) and enjoyed an additional three
nights free. (Or figure we paid $35 per night to camp in one of the most
luxurious RV parks in America.) There is no required "sales pitch". Bella
Terra sales rep, Peter Tenfjord, initially contacted us, but left us on our
own when we told him we were not interested in ownership. Peter was great
and answered all my questions about the resort - plus Peter has a very
friendly black lab.

We have stayed many times in RV parks under construction, so
this was not a problem for us. The first phase (where we camped) is complete
and nearly every lot is sold. Phase Two is now underway at a fast pace, and
I suspect the resort will be complete by the end of summer 2009.
The Clubhouse is one of the nicest we have seen. Impressive at 6000 square
feet, the Clubhouse includes a cozy bar and a lounge area under vaulted
ceilings. Facilities include a fitness center, spa/massage room and a sauna.
There are several large flat-screen televisions and comfy chairs.

Behind the clubhouse is a large infinity pool and spa:

The RV resort includes several satellite bath houses and
there will be an additional, smaller, clubhouse and swimming pool
constructed for owners-only. When completed, Bella Terra will also include a
putting green and sport court. The resort is enclosed, has a security gate
and full-time staff.
Bella Terra is close enough to anything you need to do in the Gulf Shore
area, yet far enough away from the touristy congestion. The resort is very
quiet, no traffic noise and access is easy, even for the largest RV. DT and
I really enjoyed our stay at Bella Terra. If you are in the Gulf Shores area
with your motorhome, stop in for a tour or stay a few nights.
