Obamarama
Yuma, Arizona: I was up long before
daylight watching the pageantry from Washington, DC. The events made me very
homesick for Washington - just in case you don't know... our daughter
attended The George Washington
University in DC and remained in DC to work for a while after
graduating. DT and I spent a lot of time in Washington. Lisa could see the
Lincoln Memorial from her apartment balcony. Ah! What a great city! No
matter your politics - today was a wonderful day for America - so much hope
and promise. Good Luck, Mr. President!
My folks are still in Yuma, so drove over to see us (and this brand-new RV
resort) just after noon. We had a walk-around and snapped photos of the new
The Palms RV
Resort. Lots here are for sale (or rent) and several have been purchased
and owners are fixing-up their little piece of heaven in the desert. The
park does not compare to the
Signature Resorts where we had been staying in Indio, but lots here are
much more reasonable, and the facilities are first-rate.

Gosh, it's been days since I posted a photo of our new RV.
Have you missed her??

Swimming pool, lap pool, several spas in a wind-protected
courtyard

Stadium seating in the shuffleboard area

Billiards, anyone?

Maybe ballroom dancing lessons?

Or a good workout?

Or just a dip in the pool? Here is another view of the pool
area.

Typical site - around $59,000 today
After our walkabout,
we drove into town for lunch at Chretin's (505 E. 16th
Street, Yuma, Arizona 85365, 928.782.1291). Long one of our
favorites in Yuma, Chretin's Mexican Foods recently had to
move from their original ancient location. (Dad said he
heard the old place had been condemned. I would believe that
tale.) Though the new Chretin's sits in a non-descript
building that used to be an Italian chain restaurant, the
food is still delicious, and the decor is still unchanged -
hundreds of family photos and photos of pilots from the
local Naval Air Station.

DT had the taco lunch special - one folded taco, one rolled
taco, rice & beans

I went with the same thing... but without the rice & beans.
My little lunch was less than $3!
Until my next update, I remain, your American correspondent.
