Golf and fish

Indio, California: Again, glorious weather! Good thing we had a tee time at Trilogy Golf Club in La Quinta. I just love this course; DT pretty much enjoys the course and we were paired with two very fun brothers-in-law from Utah.

Trilogy Golf Club in La Quinta
7th hole at Trilogy

For the first time, Trilogy is not watering the roughs this year. The dead/dormant grass is strangely "fluffy" and so nice to use to tee up your ball... assuming anyone actually did not stay on the fairway. We understand the environment is quite happy with the decision, but the homeowners are not too excited about their new "beige" views. I had (what must be described as) my best round ever. Starting on the back nine, I went par, bogey, bogey, bogey. It was the biggest best streak E V E R !  I was nearly breathless with excitement. (Isn't it sad that I am so easily amused?)

DT on 17 - it was nearly dark when we finished golfing
(oops... what's he doing in the sand trap?)

Play was pretty slow and we had to wait on nearly every hole. We didn't think we would finish before dark! Several players behind us quit playing, assuming the same. The four of us kept at it and finished just when it became too dark to putt. Unfortunately, by this time, the club house was also closed, so we were unable to get a little cocktail and nibble to warm us up. We played in tee shirts all day, but as soon as the sun went behind the mountains, it became chilly!

Luckily, we have several great hot tubs here at our RV resort, so we went directly to the spa and slowly the feeling came back to our toes. Later we went a few blocks to a great fish place - Fisherman's Grill - for another delicious meal. Fisherman's Grill has the freshest seafood you could ever imagine to find, even if you weren't in the desert. They serve the fish grilled, fried or broiled. Customers can also buy fresh fish, at incredible prices from their icy counter, to cook at home:

I had the best deal on their menu - Baja fish tacos (tonight made with cod), $8.95

More fish will be consumed tomorrow - I am planning a "Floridian" themed tailgate to enjoy while watching Tim Tebow in the Orange Bowl (while rooting for the Sooners). Timmy and and our own Darling Daughter have something in common - anyone know the answer?*

Until my next update, I remain your fishy correspondent.
