Ducks 63, Cougs 14
Clarkston,
Washington: And so, Dear Readers, now you realize the true purpose
of this trip! A football game. (Oh, come on, it is only one day!) Our
University of Oregon Ducks were set to play beat the
Washington State University Cougars.
The weather is simply outstanding, so we took advantage of the weather and
the eight-mile-long bike path just outside our door for our daily exercise.
I walked four miles and DT jogged four miles and then walked my last two
with me. The trail follows the Snake River and is really a beautiful way to
greet the day. Maybe I will bring my camera tomorrow to show you.
But, we had more important business 30 miles north, so we headed up to
Pullman, Washington in the Honda. After winding our way through the
Washington State University campus and locating a place to park, we walked
to the stadium to search-out Shelly & Craig (Cougar friends) to join them at
their tailgate. It was a true tailgate party - a cooler of beer resting on a
tailgate! It was great to see them . We were starving and helped ourselves
to their snacks before heading into the stadium.
I am really tired - sitting in the sun all afternoon is very draining...
plus, I am old... so I am just going to post a lot of photos and call it a
night:

Before the game - stadium is full

We took up the end zone!
In case you didn't hear - the Ducks simply smashed the Cougars. We scored
three times in the first quarter and it just went down hill for the
Cougs from there.

In the third quarter, the Duck came out in his jammies. He was ready to call
it a day.

In the fourth quarter, The Duck was leading the band.
I think The Duck must stay at a Holiday Inn Express every night.

By the fourth quarter, most of the Cougar faithful had left the building

After the game (final score 63-14) the teams congratulate each other on the
field.
(I think one team was doing most of the congratulating, don't you?)

As is their tradition - win or lose - the Ducks come over to thank their
fans!
After the game, we went back to see Craig and Shelly before heading back
down to Clarkston. We stopped at the first Clarkston restaurant that looked
(still) open and had cars in the parking lot. (I think these towns close
down fairly early.) Luckily, it was a decent Mexican place, Paraiso
Vallarta, and just a few blocks from our campground. Our dinners weren't bad
and our plates were an unbelievably low $8.50 each! Such a deal.

DT had a massive burrito

I had a chicken green chili enchilada.
Pedometer: 15,246 steps - nearly seven miles.
Until my next update, I remain, your GO DUCKS correspondent.
