Sequential Soaked Saturdays

Eugene, Oregon: The Ducks won, yet it was a miserable day at Autzen Stadium. (Well, in the parking lot anyway - I never did go into the stadium.) It rained. It poured. The Duck fans were drenched. It has been years since it has rained that hard during a game in Eugene. Just terrible. This report should be datelined "Lake Autzen".

We did tailgate well - before the deluge and the 12:30p kick-off. Mary planned an "election" theme party. We drank Obamaritas and Obama Sours. We snacked on refried bean dip and Mary's famous Queso Fundido dip before our lunch of chile rellano casserole and a bean and corn salad. (We came up with the Mexican-themed menu before the election... maybe a subconscious nod to the home state of the losing candidate?) Mary even found little rubber duckies holding American flags for party favors! Not everyone at our tailgate party was happy with the election results, but that didn't stop anyone from eating/drinking.

McCainarita just doesn't have the same zing, does it?

In the 2nd quarter it stopped raining... for about ten minutes.

I hate football

Autzen Stadium
But I love the Ducks

I watched most of the game on television - between feeding and drying-off stragglers, friends, kids and weary fans. Seems the Ducks tried hard to give it away to Stanford, but somehow brought home the "W".

We are now back at the RV park, where we are drying out and keeping warm. Until my next update, I remain, your soggy correspondent.
