California Sunshine
Sacramento, California:
Election Day! I hope you all voted today!

Cal-Expo RV Park in Sacramento, California

Cal-Expo RV Park - this is back (gravel) area of the RV Park. Nothing fancy, but
it level
We had a very good day. The storm that nearly washed us away
last night is somewhere over the Sierra's dumping snow on the ski resorts and we
woke to beautiful blue skies! We exercised - Cal Expo RV Park is on the American
River with miles and miles of paved bike and hiking trails - then drove 35 miles
east to visit family at their ranch.
Every time we visit DT's brother, he and his wife have finished another project
on their home in the country. This year they installed a small stall for our
"nephew", Doc, so he can now live at home instead down the road at a boarding
stable.

We had a greeting committee on our way to Doc's new stable

Isn't Doc a handsome guy?

Notice any family resemblance?
Later in the evening, I "helped" feed Doc his dinner. First he
munched on a few treats from my hand and then I placed his dinner on his stall
floor. Doc is on "Senior Diet" with glucosamine and other good things for older
horses. Doc also had a little hay.

After returning to the house after feeding Doc his dinner, there
was another animal knocking on the rear patio door wanting her dinner.

Who is this?

Apparently we now have a new niece - Lucy (as in Lucy Goosey)
Lucy showed up on the property a while ago with a Canada goose
and a few baby Canada geese. Lucy helped raise the babies and one day the babies
grew up and flew away. Lucy cried and cried and cried until our sister-in-law
couldn't stand it any longer and went out to give Lucy some corn to take her
little goose-mind off the loss. Now every evening Lucy comes to the back door
and squawks for her supper!

For dinner, we all drove into the cute little historical town of
Newcastle (near Auburn) for a wonderful meal at
La Fornaretta.
This Sicilian restaurant and pizzeria is very popular and turns out a perfect
pizza - crust crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. La Fornaretta has
pasta dishes too and seafood specials nightly. La Fornaretta is located inside
buildings once used as fruit packing facilities along the local railroad line!
(Italian food, three nights in a row. May sound strange to you... but if you
lived in Italy, wouldn't you eat Italian food every night?)

But we came home early to watch the election results. It is a
very exciting time for America! The local election and state-wide issues in
California are very interesting to us also. (Did you know ex-NBA star Kevin
Johnson is running for Mayor of Sacramento? And, according the polls tonight, he
is winning.) Notice a theme of sports stars and movie stars (and people who are
both) being elected to public office in California??? Forget "Joe the Plumber" -
with such terrible roads, California needs "Peter the Paver".
Tomorrow we head north to Oregon. Until my next update, I remain your red, white
and blue correspondent.
RV Park: Cal Expo RV
Park - We are in the "back part" in a level gravel parking area in a
pull-through full hookup site. We stay here quite often, but the main (paved)
camping area is on a serious slant and some campers may find it difficult to get
level. Bath house, laundry, wifi (not working this week!) and close to shopping,
state fairground, and freeway access. $32.
