Jimmy Buffett
Las Vegas, Nevada:
Okay. I know the old line of "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas", but I want
to share our great evening at the
MGM Grand Garden Arena with
Jimmy Buffett (and 17,000 of our closest friends). We make this trek (either
by RV or plane) every year to join the Parrotheads for Jimmy's October Las Vegas
show. Our daughter, the Lovely Lisa, joined us this weekend.

Before the show: our view of the stage

It wasn't the best show Jimmy has ever staged - it was actually
the most "mellow" show we have ever attended. Maybe since the average age of his
audience is 50 and the Parrotheads had been partying all day in the sun? But,
after the break/intermission, Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band kicked it up a
notch and the crowd went crazy, as usual. For the first time in a long while,
Jimmy had some brass in his 16-piece band - John Lovett on trumpet. (He used to
have three!) Time to bring back the sax, Jimmy! Also joining the band tonight
was Sonny Landreth. Jimmy has spent the past year traveling quite a bit and did
a show on the USS Harry Truman, docked in Dubai. As a proud Son of a
Son of a Sailor, Jimmy showed video of his time on the ship and I found that to
be very interesting.
The next morning we all had (our traditional Morning After) lunch at Jimmy's
Margaritaville
Cafe
on The Strip. And what does a Proud Parrothead eat while dining in
Margaritaville?

Duh! Cheeseburger in Paradise, naturally. Jimmy says:
"I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes, a
big kosher pickle
and a cold draft beer. Good G-d Almighty, which way do I steer?"

Well, steer towards Margaritaville, of course!
On Tuesday, we are heading south, with a stop at the Grand Canyon... so check
back! Until my next update, I remain, your Parrothead correspondent.
