Puerto Penasco Art in the Park
Puerto Penasco, Sonora,
Mexico: Nothing planned today. It was cloudy this morning, so
there wasn't a lot of action at the beach. DT and I exercised and then we
all walked up to the restaurant at the RV park for brunch. It was a pretty
good brunch too - lots of fresh fruits and traditional Mexican dishes, plus
a great omelet bar. Things were in a bit of chaos (and a bit amusing), due
to the busy (American) holiday weekend crowds, yet we enjoyed a nice meal at
a window table.
Later, we drove into town for Art in the Park - a very
typical art festival you would find in any town on a weekend. Art in the
Park artists are displaying their paintings, crafts and jewelry and
musicians are playing under the trees in a city park. None of the items were
the usual "stuff" found in tourist areas. DT and I found a cute little
cartoon painting of a dog which we think will be nice in Lisa's hall. Lisa
may think it would look nice in the back of her closet, but how could we
resist that face? (NOTE: The dog is now "hanging out" in our house.)

Art in the Park: what a sweet face!
In the afternoon, the sun came out and it became quite warm - but the
wind was too strong to really enjoy the seashore. We sat on beach chairs,
using my parent's motorhome as a wind block. The wind didn't stop the
weekenders - the beach was very active this afternoon with families enjoying
a few days away from Phoenix. Kids were playing in the surf and the vendors
were doing a good business selling kites up and down the beach. Dad went
fishing and reeled in a huge catch. Here he is with his six-foot plastic
garbage prize. The nearby nesting osprey were especially busy this
afternoon, entertaining us with their deep sea diving/hunting activities.

My Old Man, and the sea
After a beautiful sunset, we went into town for more garlic fish. It was
a very good and relaxing day. As I type this, the wind is simply howling.
Hopefully, it will all blow away and we will enjoy a great day on the beach
tomorrow.
