A day at the beach | Puerto Penasco
Puerto Penasco,
Sonora, Mexico: Again, it is your lucky day. Most of the day
was spent at the beach, so I will just post a bunch of photos and leave the
typing to a minimum. We did have a field trip scheduled this morning - a
time share salesman had drawn us a map to the open-air vegetable and fruit
market. Everyone was in the car at 9 am, but no matter how many dusty
streets we covered, the market never appeared. In the end, we stopped at the
Super Ley's to purchase our veggies.

Dad, fishing in the Sea of Cortez
The RV park has really filled-up for the President's Day weekend. As I
have said before, Puerto Penasco is very popular with residents of Tucson
and Phoenix. There are a lot of Arizona license plates in the campground and
something we snow birds rarely see - kids. The kids love the beach and are
quite happy splashing around in the water, gathering seashells and searching
through the tide pools... which is pretty much what DT and I did this
afternoon too.
Dad went surf fishing on the beach in front of their motorhome. He didn't
catch anything, but he had an enjoyable time casting his hook, baited with
shrimp, into the Sea of Cortez.
DT says to tell you... if you are wondering where Superman is this weekend -
he is on vacation in Puerto Penasco. I felt lucky to get this
paparazzi-style photo of the very relaxed crime fighter.

Superman on vacation

A vendor is selling carved boxes, scented with lemon oil, to our fellow
campers.
All day a steady stream of goods are paraded by our campsites - jewelry,
pottery, baskets, rugs, blankets, toys, wooden boxes, tamales, Arizona
newspapers, fresh fish, vegetables, dried fruits, burritos and offers for a
manicure, pedicure, hair braiding or a haircut.

Let's make a deal
Here are two pretty photos of the day coming to a close in Puerto Penasco.
The fisherman come into port, cleaning their catch and throwing the scraps
into the sea - with huge flocks of gulls following.
I made perfect
Margaritas
for our sunset-viewing pleasure. DT grilled steaks and Mom made a salad and we had a very nice
meal. (Too many people in town this weekend to try and fight the crowds in
the restaurants.)
