Pacifica, California: We only made it 99 miles up the coast! Don't want to do too much in one day! Truthfully, we could have lingered in Moss Landing longer, as there seemed to be much to see/do there and we only tried one of the famed restaurants (by-passing The Whole Enchilada for our next visit). The day broke foggy and chilly. I wore these things called pants! It wasn't so chilly that I actually had to wear socks... but still, shocking just the same.

The drive today took us directly north on Highway One. Always fun in a car, not always fun in a 40-foot bus dragging a car. The views over the cliffs to the sea are awe-inspiring! Certain stretches of the 99 miles seemed as we were the last people remaining on the planet, other times we had terrible traffic. There is much congestion around Santa Cruz, but otherwise the road is okay. We stopped at a pull-out where we could see hundreds of harbor seals dozing on the rocks.

Our destination today was a huge RV Park(ing lot) just south of San Francisco - the San Francisco RV Resort. It is an unbelievable $60 per night, but it is one of a very few campgrounds of any type near The City. Our site looks directly over the ocean, so it is really worth the price. San Francisco RV Resort is just a short drive to a BART station and only 14 miles from downtown San Francisco. It was 60 degrees when we left Moss Landing and we drove in foggy clouds all day, until we approached Pacifica and the temperature rose to 74 and we enjoyed a very nice late afternoon looking over the ocean.

Our campsite (read that "parking space") is so incredibly tight that we cannot open our bays! There is no place to put the Honda and if there is an earthquake tonight, we will end up in the sea... but we still are very happy here because of the view.

Tonight we walked down to the shopping district north of the campground. Here you can find a Mail Box Plus place, post office, health food store, yoga studio, produce market, meat market, Safeway, Chinese Restaurant, dry cleaner, video rental, laundromat, pizza joint, tavern, barber, hair/nail salon, fish & chips joint... well, basically everything a person would need to survive. I suggest we just move here. We had a delicious pizza and a fun time at Manor Room Pizza.
