Maelcombe House | Stonehenge
Woking, Surrey, England: We are now back to Pear Tree Cottage. In three days,
Martin drove nearly 600 miles around the English countryside. He is the best
tour guide, but we know he is exhausted. Actually, we are all exhausted
because we went for a near-five-mile walk this morning! (Of course, one of
us ran four-miles before going on a long walk!) Sally prepared a gourmet
breakfast and we ate in their huge kitchen at Maelcombe House. After
our meal, the six of us walked up the harrowing road, into the village,
through the village (100 yards) and then down through sheep fields to the
shore and returned to their home along an ancient footpath managed by the
National Trust.

After saying goodbye to our new friends, we headed back to
Woking, making only one stop - at Stonehenge. After
listening to the headsets provided by the National Trust, we all decided
that Stonehenge was built 5000 years ago of rocks from Wales and no one has
any idea why or how. Still, it was an impressive structure, soon to be
made even better as the freeway running along the side of these ancient
rocks will be moved!
Here are a few of my Stonehenge photos:
