On the road again...

On the Umatilla Reservation near Pendleton, Oregon:  We are on the road again!  What a wonderful day!  Today was the first day of what will most likely be a three-month long journey across our country - and Canada. We have many adventures planned and a very special event to attend, so check back often!

Honda CRV
The new "toad"

This is our first big trip with the new tow car and we will be without Snickers, our faithful Beagle Companion. Snickers is quite elderly now, quite deaf and very blind and does not enjoy traveling much... even though we have taken him to 46 states. He is in good hands with a full-time dog/house-sitter and will have a much more relaxing time than he would being dragged around the country. He can get himself INTO the motorhome; but can no longer get himself OUT of the motorhome. The dog is a paradox.

We left Beaverton, Oregon today in pouring rain and headed east along the Beautiful Columbia Gorge.  It is strange knowing that some of the best scenery in the country is 45 minutes from your house, but it is true!  Even in clouds, The Gorge shows herself proudly - the mist hanging on the deep green cliffs is spectacular! But, we just kept driving, until we reached Pendleton and pulled into the campground at Wild Horse Casino.  We won't go to the casino (too smoky)... but they do have a nice golf course, so we will see what happens tomorrow.

The internet satellite went up on the first try, so that was a good sign.  However, the satellite TV had to be "bumped" by Direct TV.  Seems it had been inactive for too long.  Now, all is well. The Mariners are on TV and the aroma of a savory lasagna is floating throughout Our Intrigue.
