Fort Myers

Fort Myers, Florida:  Happy Election Day! Just a short update today. I drove DT to the golf course to spend the day with Paul, and Snickers and I went to PetSmart! It was 94 degrees today in Fort Myers, so the Hot Dog and I hung-out at home after our errand. Our Fed-Ex (mail sent by our house sitter) arrived and that kept me pretty busy. Paul drove DT home and took the 2-minute tour of Goldie. He loved our place! They played the Creekside course at Bonita Bay. DT said it was a good course, and also said he played poorly. But, he always says that. We had a cocktail on the patio, but Paul had to exercise his franchise, so left before the polls closed.

Tomorrow all this election hype will be over. The Florida streets are full of Jeb! signs. Jeb! Jeb! Jeb! (I learned today that Jeb is NOT EVEN his name, his name is James, or something, and his initials are J.E.B.) I have actually become quite interested in several of the elections in the states we have visited and will have to watch the news tomorrow. This afternoon, I chatted with a local who was proudly wearing a sticker on his shirt reading, "I VOTED - Touch Screen". He was quite elderly and I asked him about it and he said, "It didn't hurt at all," and smiled. The touch screen voting process took about 10 minutes, because there was a lot of reading. While voters are waiting their turn, the precinct workers handed-out sample ballots to pre-read - to speed things along. (We voted by mail, eons ago.)
