Beverly Beach Camptown Resort
Beverly Beach, Florida: (We spent
yesterday visiting at the home of old friends, Wormy and J.O.) The
weatherman was right, we are having a cold snap. It was only 76 today. It
was just a beautiful day at the beach.
I spent the day "at home" while DT and Wormy golfed at The Plantation. DT
and Wormy golfed with another twosome, Chuck and Chuck. DT and Wormy did not
shoot well, but still beat Chuck and Chuck. I needlepointed and walked on
the beach with Snickers. I even let Snickers off his leash for an illegal
romp in the sand. As long as I have a pocket-full of doggie biscuits, he
won't go far. A few times, the old guy was frisky enough to charge at the
sandpipers and scare them into the sky. What a rascal. I also did a lot of
bird watching with the binoculars. I watched a hawk hover over the shoreline
and then dive into the waves. Rarely, s/he would come out of the water with
a prize, but usually it was "empty-taloned". I also saw many pelicans and,
of course, (in the non-bird category) watched dolphins play in the sea. At
about 5 p.m., the clouds came in, the wind came up, and my golfer came home.
For our Halloween evening entertainment, Wormy took us to dinner in Flagler
Beach at
The Fisherman's Net. All the staff at the restaurant were dressed
in costume. I think our waitress was a nurse, as she was in all-white, but I
am still not sure. (I went as a middle-aged housewife.) DT and Wormy
(dressed as tired golfers) tried the special Fried Alligator Tail appetizer.
I declined. I had Red Snapper, Wormy had the clams and DT has calamari in a
marinara sauce over pasta. They gave each of us enough food for a family of
four. Halloween candy was served for dessert. And, after dinner, we had to
say our goodbyes. Hopefully we will all see each other again soon - we had a
great two days here with Wormy & J.O.
And, I want my folks to know I am using mosquito repellent - and coils.
(When Lisa is 47 years old will I be worrying and reminding her to use
mosquito repellent? You betcha!) Use it, I do, and so far on the trip, I
have ONLY had 8 mosquito bites, two very painful ant bites and one nice
chomp from a Black Fly. We keep a can by the door of the motorhome and
another in the car. It is my new perfume. I even spray the dog. But, you no
longer need to worry. Wormy brought us the ultimate bug zapper. When he
showed up tonight to take us to dinner, I looked out the window and he and
DT were playing with small racquets. I thought - what is going on, are they
going to play miniature badminton? Wormy explained J.O. brought a dozen of
the racquets back from a recent trip to Korea - they have a battery in the
handle and the "strings" are electrified wires. You swat at a bug and it
gets fried. I don't know if this is sick, or just a lot of fun...but I will
soon find out. We are, after all, in Florida. It is a potential life-saving
device. See? Everyone is worried about our health.
Halloween Update: Tonight Lisa is going to the University
Club for her weekly hamburger, then she going to a Halloween party, then she
is going to a Halloween party and, after that, she is going to Georgetown to
a Halloween party. I bought a bag of candy, but had no trick-or-treaters.
DT & Terry, now that you are the RV Champions of the
World,
what are you going to do?
