Outer Banks
Outer Banks, North Carolina: Seriously, this is
just the nicest place! We just couldn't leave. The weather was so nice
again, so I went down and re-upped for another night. And then we proceeded
to get serious about doing nothing. Well, everyone knows, DT can not do
"nothing". I can do "nothing"... and he is getting better at doing
"nothing". This morning, doing "nothing", DT ran for 70 minutes, washed all
the outside windows in the RV, put up new Duck and US flags on the rear
ladder (our old US flag was now "stars only" and the Duck flag broke off
somewhere in South Dakota). I went for a walk on the beach with Snickers and
needle pointed. We enjoyed some time on the beach.
Someone has stolen our beagle and replaced him with a nicer version.
Snickers has had some sort of personality change. Who is this nice dog? He
would let friendly people on the beach walk up to him and we did not JUMP on
them - he still has to greet each and every person in North Carolina. He
just lets them pet him! He doesn't even care if we leave him alone. Okay,
never mind - whoever has my old dawg... you can keep him. (P.S.: This
version still snores and farts.)
Early in the afternoon, we returned from the beach and decorated our
campsite for some serious tailgating. We donned our yellow and green. Which
is very, very sad, considering the Ducks were not even on TV. We watched
other games on our little "outside TV" and at 3:30 pm, when the Ducks
kicked-off, we went to the beach with our phones and waited for scores. At
half time, it was looking very good. (I have the scores text-messaged to my
phone.) We came back and watched the big plays on ESPN, during breaks from
the all-important pre-game press conferences for the World Series.
People stopped by and asked for the score. By the third-quarter, Mary
started calling from Autzen Stadium. Things were looking scary. She called
again. Ducks scored. She called again. Things were looking bad. She called
again. Ducks were going to lose. Then my Dad called. Ducks Lost! My Little
Duckling packed-up all the Duck stuff from our tailgate and put the outside
TV away. He rolled-up the awning and came inside. Ducks lost.
