Harry Truman Little White House
We woke to a
different view from Room 212 - the Costa Victoria arrived in port
at 6:30 a.m. I somehow slept through the entire process, but Dave said he
was up and watched her dock. It will be near 80 degrees today. The
Weather is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful.

DT at breakfast

Dave
We had a great day getting to know our way around the town a
bit. DT and I had breakfast on a pier, while Lisa slept-in. Later,
we-three walked down to the
Harry S.
Truman Little White House, where several Presidents (Truman, Eisenhower,
Kennedy and Carter) vacationed. It is now a museum. They had a very
interesting display: the famous "butterfly ballot" was set-up in a voting
booth. We looked it over and decided you had to a special kind of stupid not
to understand where to punch your chad.

Then we walked to
Margaritaville. Of course, I had to look at every item and carefully
choose my mementos. It did take some time to look at the decor of the shop
too. The walls and ceilings are decorated with every kind of Parrothead
paraphernalia! Photos. License plates. Posters. Ticket stubs - you name it
and a Phan had sent it in. I spoke with the boy behind the counter and
discovered not only was he an Oregonian, but was the roommate of the
Oregonian who worked at Papa's! It is obvious I am getting to be a local! He
told me Buffett often comes to Key West and will play at the Margaritaville
Cafe but never comes into the store "because there is no back door - he gets
in here and can't get out". Poor Jimmy - a prisoner of his own empire! Lisa
and Dave were long gone, bored with my shopping, by the time I finished with
my precious purchases.

Pretty Duval Street
I took several photos of the fabulous sunset. Everyone
gathers at the pier in front of our hotel to watch the sunset and a party
occurs every night. Music, dancing, drinking, street performers, etc. It was
quite fun to watch and enjoy. I hope you like the photos.

Sunset Monday night
For dinner, we walked down to an Italian place (naturally)
and had a great meal. Lisa and I had pasta. Dave tried a local catch:
mangrove snapper. He said it was delicious. After dinner, we walked back
towards the hotel and ended up back at the Hogs Breath. The three of us
stayed and chatted with just-graduated UConn football players until we
realized it was nearing the midnight hour and we needed to stagger back to
our hotel.
