Las Vegas | Desert Pines | Danny Gans
Las Vegas, Nevada: I had a very quiet
morning, dropping the guys off at
Desert Pines Golf Club and then doing a little (mall) shopping. The wind
has really kicked-up and the golfers had a little trouble with gusts, but
they enjoyed the course and scored better than yesterday. We drove down Las
Vegas Blvd. to drop Matt at his hotel and, for you Dear Reader, I composed
two drive-by photos from the BC2's window:

Added later: Matt had reserved three seats
at the Danny Gans Show tonight. We were very excited to see the show, but
because of a traffic problem, we nearly didn't make it to The Danny Gans
Theater on time! With the high winds, a sign was ready to blow-down on to
the strip, so the police CLOSED Las Vegas Boulevard! It was a hassle (for
DT) but the three of us managed to get into our seats before the curtain
went up - and we spent the next 90 minutes laughing! Danny Gans was very
entertaining. He is called "the man of a thousand voices", and though we
only heard about 100 of his voices - all were excellent. I especially
enjoyed when he sang a famous person's "theme song" but changed the words.
Usually, it was a scream! DT laughed so hard during the Michael Jackson
skit, (I'd blow my nose, but I don't have one) I thought I was going to have
to give him CPR. After the Michael Jackson skit, Gans does an Elvis skit. He
walks on stage, in Elvis hair and a fancy leather jacket, doing a very good
aged Elvis. He introduces himself: I used to be Michael Jackson's
father-in-law. The audience laughs and he continues with: "Hey, you'd come
back too, if he married YOUR daughter." Gans did everyone and anyone. It was
a very clean show, his talent is impressive and his show is hilarious. Guess
he really may be "Entertainer of the Year".
After the show, we decided to walk across the street and have dinner at
Puck's Postrio Cafe in the Venetian Hotel. Just light snacks to give us
energy for a night at the tables since our theme for the night was: "You
Have to Bet Big to Win Big". This theme could have been "You Have to Bet Big
to Lose Big" - but not tonight. We were lucky at the Venetian! It was fun
and it happened quickly... but it did happen and I will happily report it is
more fun to win at the tables than it is to lose at the tables.
We walked back to the Bellagio (where Matt is staying) to finish out the
evening at the tables in their casino. DT was quite lucky at the Bellagio
and Matt did well also. We were really having so much fun, but it was
getting late and we bid our farewells to Matt. (Matt will be meeting-up with
us in March in Philly for the A-10 tournament, though he rudely will be
rooting for the UMass Minutemen.)
