Anniversary
This morning was
spent “getting ready” for 10 days of track & field. Dave and Lisa spent
several hours driving from Point A to Point B to Point C, from Point C to
Point A, etc. Lisa has an internship with NIKE Communications and must
report to several different locations during the Trials – so she needed to
learn where to go and how to drive (our toad) in this strange city. (Not to
mention Lisa has not driven for 6 months… but that is something for Dave and
I to stress over, not you, Dear Reader.) Lisa will be staying with us
some nights and with Uncle Steve and Aunt Gina most nights. I picked-up a
rental car for Dave and I to drive during our stay in Sacramento.

Dave and I are happy to celebrate our 20th Wedding
Anniversary today! Maybe our marriage has lasted because I am the only woman
he knows who would be happy to spend the occasion at the Olympic Trials???
Anyway, we have the above lovely roses to enjoy, perfect weather and our
beautiful daughter was with us all day! And… we are going to one of our
favorite restaurants for dinner – Lemon Grass. We met Steve and Gina for
dinner. We started with fresh salad rolls, fried egg rolls and Vietnamese
Carpaccio. Carpaccio is one of Lisa’s favorite (paper-thin slices of raw
beef in a spicy ginger sauce). Major yuck to me, but Lisa eats it up. For my
main course, I had their spicy tofu salad. We also tried (again) their
famous Ginger Ice Cream. I have the restaurant’s cookbook – buy it – and
make their Ginger Ice Cream – it is so wonderful.
We left Lisa and her giant suitcase with Steve and Gina tonight. Lisa starts
work tomorrow at a huge press conference featuring Marion Jones and Michael
Johnson. Nothing like jumping right into the frying pan! I leave you with a
photo of Gina and Steve.
