Hoover Dam

Las Vegas, Nevada: We are leaving Las Vegas tomorrow, so we decided to drive to Hoover Dam today. It was a dam trip all right... who could possibly believe there would be a traffic jam in the middle of nowhere and that there would be an hours-long wait just to go into the Visitors Center at Hoover Dam on a Monday in the middle of April??? What were all those people doing up there? Doesn't anyone work anymore? How rude! We were only able to walk over the top of the dam and snap a few photos - sorry!

Hoover Dam
My view of Hoover Dam

It took us 40 minutes to drive the last 2 miles up to the dam and then we paid $2 to park in the nicest parking structure ever created. The dam construction pales in comparison to the multi-story parking structure. The entire damn dam viewing process is so unorganized... hmmm... I wonder if it is run by a government agency? I wasn't even able to get a postcard - sorry, Howard! We took the more scenic route home along the shore of Lake Mead, and had a fun time watching the fighter jets over Nellis Air Force Base - more of our tax dollars at work. After a sandwich and a supply stop for our visit to the Grand Canyon, we headed over to the Doggie Hotel to fetch our little guy. Fresh from a bath, Snickers was very happy to see the people he owns! Back at the campsite, I took him for a long walk and then he settled down for a nap with Mom, while Dad went to the driving range. We will stay-in tonight, preparing for our trip tomorrow and having an early night. Enough of the neon for us. Before we went to bed, it was raining.
