Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada: Woody and Steve arrived this morning! The stock market was plunging, so we decided we had better try to increase our retirement income in the casinos! DT and I met Mary, Steve and Woody on The Strip, and spent a few hours walking through casinos, trying their tables and slot machines. It is really fun in Las Vegas to just walk through the casinos and people-watch! We went over to the new Bellagio Hotel. It is in an Italian theme with fabulous marble everywhere. I found a blackjack table, filled with handsome young men from Toronto. The dealer was fun and friendly, and so were the Canadians. I had very good luck and so much fun at that table! The rest of my group were at different tables or slot machines and would come by occasionally to checkout my stack of chips. Everyone had a bit of luck at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino! Then, we were off the Caesar's Palace for lunch before heading back to Goldie for a rest.

This was Mary's big night - her birthday dinner at Zeffirino’s Restaurant at the Venetian Hotel. Kathy's flight arrived and the six of us had a fabulous meal and a fun evening at Zeffirino's. We walked through the Venetian Hotel after dinner, playing for a while in their casino, but it was not much fun and no one was having luck, so the boys headed-out in search of their favorite of Vegas play-things: a horse-racing game. They just love this game and played for hours the last time we were here... it is a very old game and there are only a few remaining in town. We went to the horseracing game in Bally's. They are actually 4-inch-tall plastic horses, with jockeys that move around a track. The gamblers sit at a table (about the size of a large dining table) and place twenty-five-cent bets on two-horse combinations. I just can't seem to find any redeeming features of this game, so I went to the blackjack tables in Bally's. I found a fun table and played until the equestrians came to take me home! It was well after midnight and I wanted to get to bed - but what a great evening! A beautiful, clear night in Las Vegas, no wind and not too hot. The JIMMY BUFFETT CONCERT is tomorrow!
