Relaxing Day

DT and I took a photo safari this morning around the hotel grounds. Here are a few snap shots for your viewing pleasure.

Flower  Parrots
Tropical flora… and (imported) fauna

This evening I type my journal on our lanai. It is quite pleasant listening to the waves hit the shore and sounds of clinking cutlery and laughter from the restaurant below… the faint scent of sweet flowers in the air.

Today was a lazy day for the Taylor’s. We skipped the Sunday Brunch buffet and opted for room service. We dined outside, reading the Sunday paper. Dave and I took a walk around the property and I took the photos posted above. More lazing in the sun and sand. Dave and Lisa worked-out early in the afternoon and then we took a drive to Waimea. The temperature on the beach was 82, and 10 miles up the mountain it was 68! (It was also cloudy and misty.) We drove past miles and miles of Parker Ranch, the largest cattle ranch in America. We drove to Waipio point where the view is really breathtaking – a dark green valley, spilling into the sea – surrounded by steep cliffs full of waterfalls.

At one point during our drive today, Lisa spotted a wild boar – but when we drove past it again, the “boar” was a domesticated goat! Well, that will give us something to teach Lisa about for years to come. Back down on the coast, back to the 80-plus degree temperatures… we drove up to Kawaihae to the Café Pesto. The restaurant had come highly recommended, but it fell short of our expectations. Dave had a white fish salad and linguini with spicy red sauce. Lisa had oono on rice with mango salsa and caviar. I had a “volcano mist” salad (Mixed greens, topped with Waimea tomatoes and fried Maui onions with citrus vinaigrette) and pasta in a light crème sauce. Nothing was outstanding about our meals, except a very friendly waitress and Dave’s fish salad. Since it is so quiet at the hotel, we will call it an early night – we have another early tee time tomorrow.
