Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners
We were going to be away from the house all day, so I put dinner in the
crockpot before leaving. Since it was St. Paddy's Day, I put a nice cut of
corned beef in the crockpot - along with attached seasonings packet, a
bottle of beer (Bridgeport
India Pale Ale), new potatoes, carrots and a sliced onion. When we
arrived home, our dinner was waiting. All I had to do was steam a little
cabbage.
And, wow, was the clean-up ever easy too, because I used one of the new
Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners. Though it does take up half the dishwasher,
the ceramic crock of my slow cooker is dishwasher-safe and the dishwasher
does a great job on clean-up. But, I was "experimenting" to see how the new
liner bags would hold up for future use in the RV. (Always thinking of you,
Dear Readers.)
The
crockpot liners are made of nylon and seem (to me) to be the same as oven
roasting bags... except in a shape for a crockpot. (Reynolds states on their
website that though the material is the same, the products are different and
you should not use an oven bag in your crockpot or a crockpot liner as an
oven bag. The liners are also certified kosher.) I have a large 5-quart oval
crockpot and the bag fit great! I served the beef and veggies on a platter
and left the slow cooker/Reynolds liner to cool while we enjoyed our dinner.
There was quite a bit of liquid left-over, so I carefully gathered the
entire bag by the top edges and lifted it into the sink - but not a drop
spilled and there wasn't so much as a spatter on the ceramic pot! (Of
course, I still had to wash the lid.) After only using the crockpot
liners once, I can guarantee there will always be a package in the
motorhome. The bags are really inexpensive too, in supermarkets everywhere
and weigh next to nothing - perfect for your RV.
