Hefty EZ OvenWare
Hefty
has just introduced
EZ Ovenware - disposable bake-ware made from a paper that can be used in
the oven, microwave or freezer. This product will be very useful to the RV
cook. The pans are made from cut-resistant lined pressed paperboard. One
advantage over disposable foil pans, EZ Ovenware can be used in the
microwave! The pans are also available with a flimsy see-through plastic
cover and come in several sizes and shapes.
I tested Hefty EZ Ovenware with home-made macaroni and cheese - I wanted to
try something really gooey to test the non-stick feature. The casserole did
not stick to the sides of the pan. The pan was tested in the GE Profile
Advantium Oven, using the regular oven feature.
Cooking with paper requires a few simple rules and instructions are printed
on the packaging. The pans are oven safe to 425° and they advise to not cook
in the product for more
than
one hour. They also caution to set the pan on a cookie sheet - do not set
the pan directly on the oven rack. This will ease getting the dish in and
out of the oven safety too. Of course, the plastic lids are not to be used
in the oven or microwave. For storing leftovers, the lids work well and the
ovenware will fit in the RV fridge with the lid attached. Hefty EZ Ovenware
is light-weight, rattle-proof and inexpensive.
When planning for make-ahead meals, EZ Ovenware will be a great advantage
over foil - just because of the microwaveable feature. There is no
information about recycling the paper product and due to the non-stick
lining, I can't advise burning the used pan in the campfire.
EZ
Ovenware won the 2006
Chefs Best Award and won a place in my home and RV kitchen after a
single test of the product. After testing EZ Ovenware several times with
made-ahead frozen meals, I highly recommend this new product for your RV and
home kitchen. Hefty EZ Ovenware is available now at The Wal-Mart and it will
be coming soon to your local supermarket. For more information, contact
