2016 Track & Field Trials: Day 7

TrackTown, USA:  The weather changed a bit overnight and we woke to cloudy skies. Rain was predicted.

Lisa and Leo returned from their Mother-Son wilderness adventure. They had a great time at the Tipi Village and Lisa recommends the little retreat. DT went to the track; Lisa and I took Leo to the River Play Discovery Village at Skinner's Butte Park. It was an amazing playground and Leo had a wonderful time. He "crossed the river on a ferry", climbed a mountain, rode a stagecoach, panned for gold and generally had a good time. Please excuse too many photos today posted by a very happy and proud Bubbe:

Before heading over to Historic Hayward Field to watch the races, we had lunch at Cafe Yumm! Lisa just loves this local chain and we always try to find time for a Yumm! Bowl when she visits Oregon.

Our first task after reaching the track was to find Dave so he could help Leo finish the last two events on his heptathlon badge.

Of the seven events completed, Leo seemed to show the best skill in running and long jumping. I'm going to venture our 32 pounder may never grow to be a javelin or shot put guy. (Cyrus, you can sleep without worry tonight.)

Leo was ready for a little rest, so we went over to the Chobani tent. He had a squeezy kids yoghurt tube (decorated with Spiderman!). Leo posed for a photo at the Chobani American flag display and drew an American flag with crayons.

One more unintended treat snatched from the dessert display at the TrackTown16 hospitality tent. It's not Leo's fault the caterer had a platter of chocolate cupcakes at the eye level of a 4-year-old.

Then we took our seats in the stadium for another wonderful evening of The One True Sport. We were very happy our friends made it out of the 1500m men's qualifying rounds!

Though the entire day had been about entertaining Leo, he was not having too much to do with watching America's best racers.

But Leo kept himself quiet watching a movie on Lisa's iPad so we could enjoy the meet. The rain started late afternoon and continued at a steady drizzle.

The Ride to Rio bicyclists are all the way to Caracas!
