Camping with Leo: Day 6

Portland, Oregon:  We woke to rain again and just gave up. We surrendered to Oregon's August and drove home. It rained so hard over the coast range, I thought our 54,000 pound motorhome was going to be swept away. Leo, in his new car seat (yes, it was delivered to the campground as promised) was pretty impressed by the rain, but was confused about the time of day. It was so dark at noon, he thought it was night time.

I love you, Oregon, but this August weather blows.

So I do not have a lot of cute photos of Leo at the beach. I do not have a lot of cute photos of Leo barking with the sea lions.

Leo

Instead I have a photo of our Happy Camper finally having a S'more in the kitchen at our house. (No fire pits at our campground in Newport.)

After dinner - Mac & Cheese, of course, after our visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory yesterday - Bubba made the teeniest of fires in the fireplace and Leo finally had his S'more and was a Happy Camper.

Leo and I finished Boxcar Children before he fell asleep tonight. A happy ending and absolutely no mention at all on the circumstances of their parent's death. Researching, I found the author never reveals how Ma & Pa die, but someone wrote a "prequel" a few years ago about the parents. (I am not going to read someone else's version of their demise. It's just not right.) After the first book, the series turns into mystery novels, 19 written by Gertrude Chandler Warner, mostly in the 1950-60's. After Warner died, others continued writing the series and there are over 150 mysteries to date. I think Leo will really enjoy this series. The first 19 only, however.

It is not supposed to rain in Portland tomorrow. Cloudy all day and 70 degrees. We have several options for fun activities to share with Leo, and have all weather conditions covered.

Until my next update, I remain, your rainy day correspondent.
