WORLD SERIES: Game Five

San Francisco, California: It just happened that Woody knew a guy with connections where he was able to snag four tickets to the World Series game Sunday night in San Francisco... which means, DT and I knew a guy who knew a guy... who probably knew a guy. Luckily, the guy we knew - Woody - shared his good fortune with us!

Woody, Kathy, DT and I spent the entire day in San Francisco. First we found a space to park the car and walked along the waterfront, enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Kathy had not yet been to the Ferry Building Marketplace, so we walked through the old ferry terminal which has been repurposed to a very interesting collection of restaurants and shops.

We decided to have lunch at The Slanted Door, one of my favorite spots in the market - and because Kathy especially likes Vietnamese food.

We also had a few noodle and soup dishes before walking all the way to AT&T Park - Home of the San Francisco Giants.

This was the first time we had been to the new stadium - though we rarely miss a Giants game on television. (Dave grew-up in a Giant-loving family.)

Before heading to our seats we walked around the entire park.

Our seats were not in the very last row - they were two rows in front of the very last row. No one complained. We we were at the WORLD SERIES! We had views of the entire field, saw every play, had vistas all the way to Oakland and (yeah!) had the wind blocked behind us. We did not need jackets all night.

The San Francisco Giants won in a shut-out! Madison Bumgarner pitched the entire game - a first World Series shutout by a Giant pitcher in 52 years. Pretty exciting! And a pretty exciting weekend of sports for our group. Two new stadiums. Two victories.

THANK YOU, WOODY!!!!!

Until my next update, I remain, your thrilled correspondent.
