Pointed South

Near Hornbrook, CA: We left Eugene at 10a and pointed our caravan south on I-5. Three couples; two motorhomes. We all stopped at the Seven Feathers Casino/Truck Stop/Casino/RV Park/Casino/Spa/Casino and refueled.

After filling our tanks and emptying our wallets, we pulled the motorhomes up to a large parking area behind/above the casino truck stop and had a gourmet lunch of leftover chili from yesterday's tailgate. Living large!

Blue Heron RV Resort

We didn't stop again until arriving at our reserved RV park. Blue Heron is not an easy stop-over site. It is six miles off I-5 on a decidedly rough and winding road. Once reaching the resort, a patron is charged $65 smackers and there is no cell service.

But no one cared (especially since we have our own satellite wifi network). This lovely campground is on the Klamath River. Beautiful scenery. Drift boats floating by. Fish jumping. Ospreys hunting. Deer meandering. Horses and dogs wandering through our campsite. (Oh, my goodness, Leo would love this place!)

After settling in, we gathered chairs down by the river and watched the world go by... well, everyone but Kathy. She saw crayfish in the river and decided to catch a few with kitchen string and a piece of sliced turkey deli meat.

Kathy and Craydaddies

Unfortunately, the crustaceans were not biting.

We had cashews as our appetizer this evening.

We did not starve. DT and I were in charge of tonight's meal. We had three fat ribeyes (to split), did a dry rub with cocoa nibs and peppercorns and I also served my Warm Potato Salad with Arugula.

I just love camping

I think the meal was well-received... or I didn't cook enough food for six people. No leftovers.

Captain Jim and Mary contributed dessert - they brought us a plate of assorted of sweets yesterday - which turned-out to be just the perfect ending to a wonderful day on the road with wonderful friends. (Thank you, Mary & Captain Jim!)

Until my next update, I remain, your riverside correspondent.

RV PARK: Blue Heron RV Resort - small park, directly on the river. Front-in paved sites. Bath house. Laundry. 50/30 amp. Restaurant next door. Boat rentals. We love this park, but it is wicked expensive. $65. No cell service.
