In Bend, with food
Bend, Oregon: DT, Lisa and I drove over to
Bend yesterday to visit with my family. My Mom is ill and several family
members are here visiting and giving my Dad a helping hand. The house is so
crowded, we-three stayed in a hotel last night and went to the Victorian
Cafe (1404 NW Galveston Ave., Bend, OR 97701, 541-382-6411) for breakfast
before heading over to the house.

DT ordered the short stack. Fluffy, light. Very delicious - served with
maple or blueberry syrup.

The Princess had a half-order of the very non-kosher California Eggs Benedict -
with avocado, turkey and bacon - and the traditional poached egg with
hollandaise.

I only ran for twenty minutes this morning (then did a shift on an elliptical
machine until I realized an elliptical exercises muscles I had forgotten
about and I won't be able to move in the morning)... so I had the Greek
Scramble - artichoke hearts, kalamata olives and red peppers, made with egg
whites. I must admit to trying those wonderful hash browns too.
Mom had many visitors this afternoon - at one point four of her five
children were in the house. We are a noisy bunch - Mom took a long nap
this afternoon.
Lisa cooked dinner for everyone tonight. Soft-shelled
shredded chicken tacos with black beans.

Mom felt good enough tonight to eat a taco and she loved Lisa's creation.
Brother Ken baked a pie for dessert and Mom ate an entire piece of the
delicious apple pie. Yeah, Mom!

More relatives are arriving to visit Mom, so we are heading home in the
morning. Until my next update, I remain, your family correspondent.
