Back home

St. Thomas and Puerto Rico are only 40 miles apart, so I think we just coasted to San Juan. We were up early, showered and packed and off the Dawn Princess by 8:15. We hired a van to lug our luggage to the airport, everyone check in - Lisa and Paula to Miami and on to D.C.; DT and I to Dallas-Fort Worth and Portland.

D.C. or Bust (notice a few Filipino crew members headed home too)

In conclusion, I must say this was a very relaxing trip. I feel bad that we didn't take more tours or visit a few waterfalls or something... but we were busy relaxing and enjoying ourselves all the time, so it wasn't "wasted" time. Anytime we are all together is a perfect time. That said, our daughter's choice of a traveling companion can make or break a trip and Paula is simply wonderful. She is funny, quick-witted, beautiful, didn't mind being teased by DT and was easy to get along with. We love her and she can sail away with us anytime! We had a lot of fun with people assuming they were sisters, and even twins. One family on the ship finally realized on the last day of the cruise that Lisa was our daughter, not Paula! The cruise had a good itinerary, good weather, fairly calm seas and we had fun in all the ports - even though we only walked around the streets of most ports. The ship is beautiful. A great cruise... but let's face it, any day cruising is a great day!

Everyone arrived back home (D.C. and Portland) safely tonight. Our trip was wonderful - I hope you enjoyed reading my journal!
